Cape Cod RV Getaway: Lighthouses, Lobster, and the Community That Makes the Journey
Camping Cape Cod has a way of gently reminding you to slow down. The salty air, sweeping coastal views, and timeless New England towns all seem to move at their own pace—and for a few days, we were more than happy to do the same. Our latest RV’ing Cape Cod adventure wasn’t about checking boxes or racing from one attraction to the next. It was about enjoying where we were, who we were with, and why we love the RV and camping lifestyle so much.
This trip landed over the Fourth of July weekend, making it one of the best times of year for camping on Cape Cod. From our prime location, we had a front-row seat to the Falmouth Fourth of July fireworks, launched from Falmouth Heights Beach—an unforgettable way to celebrate the holiday with the ocean as a backdrop.
Our RV Home Base on the Cape
We set up camp at Sun Retreats Cape Cod, which proved to be an ideal home base for exploring Cape Cod by RV. The campground offered a relaxed, welcoming vibe, with both adult and family pools perfect for cooling off in the July heat. With easy access to the Upper and Mid-Cape, it struck a great balance between sightseeing, beach time, and downtime at the campsite.
Mornings started slow—coffee outside the fifth wheel, followed by a bagel run to Cape Cod Bagel. Evenings were all about winding down: sharing stories over a bottle of wine from Cape Cod Winery, enjoying a flickering campfire, and reflecting on another memorable day of RV camping on Cape Cod.
Iconic Lighthouses and Coastal Views
No Cape Cod RV trip feels complete without visiting its iconic lighthouses. We spent time at Nobska Light, where the views of Vineyard Sound never disappoint, and later headed to Chatham Lighthouse, standing tall above the Atlantic Ocean.
While exploring Chatham, we stopped at the Chatham Fish Pier to watch local commercial fishermen unload their daily catch. Below the docks, seals gathered hopefully, bobbing in the water and waiting for an easy meal. Watching the boats come and go, the waves roll in, and everyday coastal life unfold was a powerful reminder of how grounding slow travel can be.
Exploring Falmouth and Chatham
Wandering through Falmouth and Chatham was a highlight of our Cape Cod camping experience. Quaint streets lined with local shops, coastal boutiques, and galleries featuring regional artists made it easy to lose track of time. We strolled without an agenda, shopped a little, chatted with locals, and soaked in the charm that makes exploring Cape Cod feel both familiar and special every time we visit.
Wine, Fireworks, and Fifth-Wheel Evenings
We managed not one, but two visits to Cape Cod Winery, which quickly became a favorite stop during our RV trip to Cape Cod. Add in fireworks lighting up the night sky, relaxing afternoons by the pool, and a classic lobster dinner enjoyed back at the rig, and the rhythm of this trip felt just right.
Evenings wrapped up around the fifth wheel with good conversation, a glowing campfire, and the kind of calm that reminds us why RV camping and slow travel are so rewarding. These are the moments that don’t always make the highlight reel—but end up meaning the most.
The Best Part: RV Community and New Friends

As much as we love the destinations, it’s the people who truly define our travels. This Cape Cod RV getaway gave us the chance to finally connect in person with fellow RV YouTubers Julie and Jason from Destination Fulltime, whom we’ve followed for quite some time. A huge thank-you to Duane and Belinda from All About The Banks for making those introductions—another reminder of how generous and welcoming the RV community can be.
Turning online connections into real-life friendships is one of the biggest gifts of the RV lifestyle. RV’ing Cape Cod showed us once again how rewarding this lifestyle can be when you open yourself up to learning, growing, and sharing experiences with other RV and camping enthusiasts.
Why Cape Cod Keeps Calling Us Back
This Cape Cod RV and camping getaway wasn’t about doing everything—it was about doing what felt right. Slowing down, enjoying the coast, sharing great food, and strengthening friendships along the way. Trips like this remind us why we started documenting our journey in the first place.
If you enjoy authentic RV travel, camping Cape Cod, coastal destinations, and the sense of community that comes with life on the road, Cape Cod always delivers—and this is one trip we’ll be thinking about for a long time.
Follow along as we continue RV’ing, camping, exploring Cape Cod, and chasing the moments that make the journey just as meaningful as the destination.
