Frequently Asked Questions

Our love for RV life and community leads to a lot of great questions—here are answers to the ones we hear most about our journey, content, and life on the road. If your question isn’t listed, feel free to reach out and we’ll gladly help and keep our FAQ updated.

What type of RV do you have?
Our RV is a Keystone Apline Avalanche 338GK – The GK stands for “Grand Kitchen”. This fifth wheel for us checked most of the boxes: an ample living space, plenty of storage, and closet space with a total of four slides. The total length is 38.06 feet.

Early on, we made many costly mistakes—the kind we hope others can avoid by learning from our experience. One of the biggest lessons was realizing that you’ll never find the “perfect” rig right out of the gate. What matters most is clearly planning for how you might use it in the future.

For us, that meant not fully accounting for the potential of living full-time. We upgraded three rigs in three years, and with every camper upgrade came new tow-vehicle challenges. We also made mistakes choosing tow vehicles that limited our options and forced changes sooner than expected.

The biggest takeaway? Know what you need, know what you want, and plan ahead. Choose a tow vehicle that gives you flexibility for future upgrades or lifestyle changes. Thinking long-term—even if you’re only part-time today—can save you a lot of money, stress, and frustration down the road.

We are currently towing with a 2024 Ram 2500 Laramie with a 6.4-foot bed and a slide hitch. We never have to slide the hitch back as cornering with our Ram and the 338GK design allows plenty of turning radius. We opted for the 6.4 Hemi for the larger payload, but I won’t rule out a 3500 diesel in the near future.

Gemini on Tour is inspired by the Gemini zodiac sign, which is often associated with curiosity, adaptability, and a “try everything” approach to life. For us, the name represents a mindset more than a label—being open to new experiences, embracing change, and saying yes to the journey, even when it’s unpredictable.

“On Tour” reflects the road itself: the miles traveled, the places discovered, and the people we meet along the way. Together, Gemini on Tour captures our all-in attitude toward RV life—sharing the highs, the challenges, and everything in between—while staying flexible, curious, and always ready for the next adventure.

We do. We have both a Bernedoodle, “Dottie,” and an American Bulldog, “Roman”. Although our rescue Roman typically prefers to stay home with Carol’s boys due to anxiety issues, he will occasionally join us. Dottie is a well-traveled companion and enjoys nudging us as we drive, lying across the back seat of the truck, or hanging her head out the window, watching the scenery pass by.

Our favorite trip to date was Sugarloaf Key and Key West. It brought together many of the things we love most—great amenities at the Sugarloaf Key KOA, fishing and catching off the coast of Key West, stunning turquoise water, the energy and excitement of downtown Key West, sunsets at Mallory Square, and an unforgettable sunset catamaran cruise.

Right now, we travel seasonally, but our mileage often looks more like full-time RVers. In 2025 alone, we logged over 9,000 miles, traveling up and down the East Coast multiple times.

Even when we’re not on extended trips, we stay deeply connected to RV life by spending most of our home-base weekends at local RV resorts and campgrounds. That mix of longer road trips and frequent local stays lets us experience a wide range of campgrounds, travel styles, and real-world RV life—giving us plenty of stories, lessons, and insights to share along the way.

We plan all our Trips using RV Life Trip Wizard, and it works perfectly using Apple CarPlay in our Ram. We strategically plan our gas stop, overnight stays, and trip costs through the app while the RV safe navigation is played on the RAM’s large infotainment center within the dash.
Absolutely, we have a YouTube Channel called Gemini on Tour https://www.youtube.com/@Gemini-on-Tour where you can follow along on our journey.
We use a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, a GoPro Black, a DJI Mic2 and a DJI Mic Mini, an iPhone 15, and a DJI Mini 3 Drone.
We use a MacBook Air with an external drive and Davinci Resolve to edit our videos. Our photos are shot with an iPhone 15 and typically edited with the built-in photo editor and Snapseed.
